Common Issues

Perhaps you are experiencing relationship difficulties, a loss, seemingly uncontrollable anger or anxiety, disabling low mood or you simply cannot shift an unwanted habit or fear. Talking to a caring and non-judgmental professional therapist can really make a difference. You may be contemplating getting help, nervous about taking that first step to get the assistance you need. Whether you are looking for assistance with relationship difficulties, emotional issues like depression or anxiety, or want to focus on personal development, I can help.

I have helped clients with a wide variety of long-term and more recently triggered difficulties. The most common issues treated are listed on this page. It is not unusual for different difficulties, such as anxiety and depression, to be present at the same time. If your concern isn’t listed please contact me to see if I think I can help you or suggest possible alternatives.

Some issues including psychosis, schizophrenia, personality disorders, bi-polar, serious substance misuse and eating disorders may require specialist and/or psychiatric help and access to such services can be obtained via your GP. Your GP is also an excellent initial contact for common issues if you wish to obtain a medical report, a medical diagnosis or you are considering medication such as anti-depressants.

Therapy is not intended as an emergency service and sessions are only available by appointment. If you feel in crisis or at risk of harming yourself or others you should report this immediately to your GP or attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department.

Calling on my many years of experience in the public, private and charity sectors, I will work with you to assess and discuss your concerns and goals and then undertake a specifically tailored treatment plan to meet your needs.
